Outdoor Target Throwing Game

If your child enjoys throwing different objects, this game is sure to capture their interest. It offers a fun way to practise aiming and throwing through a variety of activities, with different ways to play and enjoy the challenge.

Games in the “throwing” category develop throwing and aiming skills, as well as strength and speed. They also help improve hand-eye coordination and attention, making each turn an opportunity to practise these abilities while playing.

A garden, park or forest is ideal for organising a variety of games centred around throwing, and you can also play at home. Set up the game in a space that suits you and choose a way to play together.

How to play

The child can stand behind a designated line, aim at the holes on the game board and throw bags into them. Some holes are marked with points, giving players a score to aim for as they take their turns.

One way to play is to make the winner the player who scores the most points in the shortest time. In another version, the winner is the player who achieves the better score using the fewest bags. These options offer different ways to enjoy the same target-throwing game.

For a game that also challenges reflexes and dexterity, a parent can call out several numbers in random order, such as 5, 15 and 20. The child then throws the bags into the corresponding holes in the order they heard the numbers. When the numbers are called out quickly, one after another, the child can practise reflexes and concentration. This activity also develops auditory memory, while giving the child another way to use the target and bags.
